The effect of the economic downturn on consumers' financial positions is showing itself in stress -related minor physical health problems, it has been revealed.
CreditExpert found that the health of 25 per cent of the population are suffering because of finance worries, with many falling foul of 'recession strain injury', a term coined by the firm and chartered physiotherapist Sammy Margo.
Commenting on the results of the survey, Chris Tapp, director of charity Credit Action, said that even those who have so far survived the credit crunch are experiencing stress over the remaining possibility of losing a job and financial income.
"We have seen a growth in people struggling with finances and that certainly has knocked on to people worrying more about them," he explained.
Moneysupermarket.com recently revealed that 17 per cent of Brits are planning to put the costs of Christmas on a credit card, raising concerns about the level of debt that could be incurred.
