People who have been hit by the credit crunch should still be able to find a car insurance policy that suits them, one expert has claimed.
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive for the British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA), explains that as the car insurance market is so competitive people should be able to find a low cost policy.
He said: "There is masses of choice out there. Instalment facilities are available and even short period policies, you can have whatever level of cover you wish.
"Brokers can always offer an insurance solution for any motorist ."
He added that people could also opt for a "bare bones" policy such as third party only.
Mr Trudgill's comments follow research by MoneyExpert which found that 350,000 motorists have driven without car insurance in the last month.
It found that one per cent of people doing so claimed they could not afford to pay for car insurance.
