Vain Brits splashing out on their looks

UK women spend £180,000 just to look good over the course of their lifetime, a new study has claimed.

Although the amount may seem excessive to some people who spend more cash paying off credit cards that pampering their looks, ladies splash out this much just to make themselves look hot to trot, according to Co-operative Insurance .

The company warns that this money could be better spent on long-term investments such as pensions, as looks will fade in time and only financial security will become relevant.

Danny Hurley, the head of pensions at Co-operative Insurance, warned that young people should think more about putting money aside into savings or investments so they can afford a mortgage of start a family when the need arises.

"Simply by making sensible contributions into a pension, image-conscious ladies will be able to sustain their beauty regime in the future and have plenty of money left over."

Although some people are happy with their looks, celebrities such as Michael Jackson and Dolly Parton have had surgery to change their appearance; this can often cost thousands of pounds.
