British Gas' recently-released Click Energy 4 package is a sure sign that the heat is beginning to be turned up in the price war taking place in battlefield Britain, it has been claimed.
Moneysupermarket.com, an online comparison company, said that the new package reaffirms the position of British Gas as the general on the field, placing it as the number one provider for dual fuel needs.
Referring to the energy giant as wishing to be "top dog", head of utilities at the switching firm Paul Schofield said that "the jostle for the crown is hotting up" following this launch and Scottish and Southern Energy's Price Fix 2008 offering.
However, he has also urged consumers not to become the casualties of war in this battle, as switching now before the big winter freeze may be the best move, with the operation taking as long as six to eight weeks to accomplish.
"Anyone who is languishing on a standard tariff or an expensive online dual fuel deal could look to switch to Click Energy 4," advised the expert.
"It's easy to do and you can save over £100."
British Gas recently launched Zero carbon, which it claims to be the greenest tariff on the market.
