Delegates of Northern Ireland's banking institutions have been meeting in Belfast to discuss ways of improving the system for customers.
This week, the British Bankers' Association held its Future of Banking conference to discuss changes to the system including forcing banks to provide more support for people looking to move current accounts between financial services providers.
Moreover, banking industry representatives also talked over a rule stating customers are entitled to 14 days notice before charges are automatically withdrawn from an account.
The discussions come on the back of a list of proposals set out by the Competition Commission designed to improve competition in the domestic banking sector.
"Many of the Competition Commission's measures are already reflected in the best industry practice and I am keen to see examples of good practice being shared between colleagues so we can improve the quality of our service," commented Angela Knight, chief executive of the British Bankers' Association.
Meanwhile, many banking customers in Northern Ireland may currently be looking to register home insurance claims with their financial services provider.
It comes after torrential rain struck the region earlier this week, which flooded many homes and businesses.
