Yorkshire Building Society has unveiled plans to open 15 new high street banking branches over the course of the next three years.
The financial services provider currently operates 131 sites and 75 agencies across the UK and plans to start adding more on a rolling basis from this summer.
It is expected that the move will create a total of 100 new banking jobs as well as benefiting those customers who find a branch opening in their immediate vicinity.
The decision follows the introduction of a new outlet in the north-east of England in March 2005, which Yorkshire Building Society's chief executive Ian Cornish said demonstrated that a "new branch can be extremely successful".
Moreover, Mr Cornish added that the financial services group decided upon the course of action in spite of the growing profile of internet banking solutions.
"In financial services, it is often the internet which grabs the headlines, but we know from our own experience that there is still strong demand for face-to-face advice when it comes to the more complex financial decisions," he said.
Yorkshire Building Society is one of the largest building societies in the UK and competes in the same market as rivals such as Leeds Building Society and Nationwide Building Society.
